Melyjane G. Bertillo-Ancheta is with the firm's banking, finance and securities, and special projects groups.

She renders advice on foreign investments, joint ventures, acquisitions, divestments and other corporate matters. Her transactional work includes the following: joint venture deal between Nomura (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. and BDO Unibank, Inc. involving PCIB Securities, Inc.; divestment by CPI Capital Partners Asia Pacific, L.P. of its investments in the Net Group; acquisition of shares in mining companies, including Sagittarius Mines, Inc. and Cordillera Exploration Co., Inc.; and, acquisition by OneTaipan Holdings, Inc. of Monte Oro Grid Resources Corporation, owner of 30% of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines which has been granted the concession to operate the transmission network of the Philippines.

She has extensive experience in commercial lending and project financing, acting either as counsel for the borrower or for the lenders. She has acted as counsel for lenders in the financing of projects under the Philippine Government's Public Private Partnership program, such as the infrastructure project for public schools and the NAIA Expressway project. She also has substantial experience in the financing of power projects, including a hydro electric power plant in Agusan Del Norte and a gas turbine power plant in Quezon.

She advises clients in transactions involving registration of shares with the Securities and Exchange Commission and listing of shares with the Philippine Stock Exchange. She was involved in several recent securities offering, including those of Del Monte Pacific Limited, Cebu Landmasters, Inc. and Shakey's Pizza Asia Ventures, Inc. Her projects also include the international securities offering of various Philippine companies, such as the issuance of subordinated capital securities (or hybrid securities) by Petron Corporation and SMC Global Power Holdings Corp. Ms. Bertillo also worked on Asian Development Bank's inaugural Peso Bond issue and Asian Currency Note Programme.
