Inaugural Philippines Wealth Management Forum 2015

SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan (SyCipLaw) partner Carina C. Laforteza was one of the featured speakers at the inaugural “Philippines Wealth Management Forum” organized by Hubbis. The forum was held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel last May 28 and was attended by 160 senior practitioners from the key retail banks, trust banks, insurance companies, asset managers brokers and other players across the domestic industry.
Ms. Laforteza was part of the panel on “What does wealth management look like in the Philippines?” Together with fellow panelists, Josefina Tuplano of Metropolitan Bank & Trust, Ador Abrogena of BDO Unibank, Robert Ramos of Union Bank of the Philippines, and Christmas Sevilla of BPI Asset Management, they discussed the expected growth of the Philippines wealth management market in the next few years and the need for domestic institutions to educate investors about the benefits of asset allocation. The panel discussion was facilitated by Hubbis’ Michael Stanhope.

Ms. Laforteza is a lawyer and a certified public accountant with extensive tax and corporate practice. Her tax work ranges from tax structuring, tax compliance, tax litigation and tax-related arbitration. She is also a professional lecturer in taxation at the University of the Philippines’ College of Law.
