SyCipLaw shortlisted in 2 Asia Legal Awards categories

SyCipLaw is shortlisted in two categories of the Asia Legal Awards 2017. The awards are hosted by The Asian Lawyer in association with sister titles Legal Week, China Law & Practice and The American Lawyer, and will be held on February 22 at Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong.
The firm is shortlisted for Asian Law Firm of the Year. Other nominees in this category are Allen & Gledhill; Bae, Kim & Lee; Fangda Partners; Kim & Chang; King & Wood Mallesons; and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu.
The SMC $435M multi-facility coal power plant financing is also nominated for Finance Deal of the Year: Projects. The SyCipLaw team, composed of partners Simeon Ken R. Ferrer, Hector M. de Leon, Jr. and Angel M. Salita, Jr. with senior associates John Paul V. de Leon, Jr. and Bhong Paulo A. Macasaet, acted as local counsel to the lenders in this transaction. Other law firms involved in this transaction are Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, counsel to the arrangers and the lenders with respect to English law; Latham & Watkins, counsel to the borrower with respect to English law; and Picazo Buyco Tan Fider & Santos, local counsel to the borrower.
This is the 4th annual Asia Legal Awards. The awards honor the biggest and most important commercial legal matters that involved lawyers and parties in Asia. All decisions are made by the editorial staff of The Asian Lawyer, China Law & Practice and Legal Week.
