SyCipLaw’s Managing Partner Will Speak at the 2nd Philippine Pro Bono Summit

SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan’s (SyCipLaw) Managing Partner, Hector M. De Leon, Jr., will speak at the 2nd Philippine Pro Bono Summit which will be held this Thursday, December 2, 2021.

Mr. De Leon is one of the presenters during the session on “How Law Firms Can Respond to the Gap in Demand for Legal Services from the Most Vulnerable Filipinos – A Strategic Approach to Pro Bono”.

The 2nd Philippine Pro Bono Summit is organized by the American Bar Association – Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI), in collaboration with the Supreme Court of the Philippines, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Legal Education Board, and with the support of USAID. The keynote speaker for this year’s summit is the Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo.

The Philippine Pro Bono Summit aims to promote increased pro bono lawyering across the profession, share best practices on pro bono initiatives from the Philippines and other jurisdictions, showcase the use of technology in support of more efficient access to pro bono opportunities, and spotlight the need for lawyers who can provide pro bono supervision to law students in the newly created clinical legal education programs.

SyCipLaw was given the Collaboration Award in 2019 by Trustlaw, the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro-bono legal service. Mr. De Leon was also recognized by TrustLaw in 2018 as Lawyer of the Year for his exceptional pro bono work.
