Philippine Chapter of Getting the Deal Through: Labour & Employment 2018

Getting the Deal Through has published the 13th edition of Labour & Employment, which is available in print, as an e-book, and online. The Philippine chapter was contributed by SyCipLaw partner Ronald Mark C. Lleno, with support from senior associate Emmar Benjoe B. Panahon and associate Hans Cedric I. Santos.
The publication provides a holistic overview of the maze of employment laws needed to deal with a global workforce, covering areas such as legislation and agencies, worker representation, background information on applicants, terms of employment, foreign workers, liability of acts of employees, taxation of employees, employee-created IP, termination of employment and dispute resolution.

Ronald Mark C. Lleno is a partner in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan. In his employment law practice, Mr. Lleno focuses on employment litigation defense, illegal dismissal actions, unfair labor practice actions, and other employment-related lawsuits. He also provides advice on a wide range of employment and labor laws, and compliance with these laws. He also advises clients on international investigations into executive misconduct.
Emmar Benjoe B. Panahon has worked on a number of labor-litigation cases for various companies from different industries. These cases include those involving illegal dismissal, unfair labor practices, certification election, money claims, joint assessments (conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment), and overseas Filipino workers. He also conducts management trainings and seminars on labor laws and company policies.
Hans Cedric I. Santos is an in the firm’s Employment and Immigration Department. He has assisted in providing legal advice to clients from different industries with respect to labor laws compliance in the Philippines. He has also assisted in collective bargaining and negotiations, labor administrative hearings, and labor-litigation cases before the Philippine labor authorities.
