SyCipLaw Contributes the Philippine Chapter of Norton Rose Fulbright’s 2025: Insurance Regulation in Asia Pacific

Norton Rose Fulbright released the 2025 and eleventh edition of Insurance regulation in Asia Pacific – Ten things to know about 19 countries. The Philippine chapter was contributed by SyCipLaw Partners Hiyasmin H. Lapitan and Joan Mae S. To-Conejos with Associate Lourd Marc Andrew D. Parong.
The guide provides an overview and practical checklist of ten common regulatory issues for insurance companies operating or expanding in the region. It summarizes key information on a jurisdiction’s regulator, permissions for foreign insurers, restrictions on foreign direct investments, notifications or approvals for change of control, nature of the regulatory capital regime, group supervision and policyholder protection, and outsourcing regulations.
Aside from the Philippines, other jurisdictions covered in the guide are Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
